Children's Privacy Notice

Effective: April 20, 2026 · Last updated: April 20, 2026
The short version: Chore Bear is designed for families, and kids under 13 can only use it through a supervised profile that a parent creates and controls. We collect the minimum data needed, never show ads, never sell information, and parents can delete their child's data at any time.

1. Who this covers

This notice explains how Chore Bear handles information about children under the age of 13 in the United States, as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), and children under the age of 16 in the European Union and United Kingdom. It supplements our general Privacy Policy.

2. Parental consent

Children do not sign up for Chore Bear directly. A parent or legal guardian creates and controls the family account and adds child profiles. By adding a child to your account, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian and consent to our collection and use of the child's information as described here.

If you are a child and want to use Chore Bear, please ask a parent or guardian to set it up for you.

3. What we collect about children

We collect only what's needed to run the app for your child:

  • First name or nickname and an optional avatar.
  • Age or age range (used to suggest age-appropriate chores).
  • Chores, rewards, and task activity associated with their profile.
  • Photos a child takes to verify a completed chore (optional, parent-controlled).
  • Device and technical information needed to operate the app (see the main Privacy Policy).

We do not ask children for email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, or precise location. We do not use advertising identifiers for children.

4. How we use it

We use children's information only to:

  • Operate the Service for the child and their family.
  • Sync activity between parent and child devices.
  • Keep the Service safe and fix bugs.

We do not use children's information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any marketing purpose. We do not sell or rent it.

5. No ads, no third-party tracking

Chore Bear does not display advertising. We do not allow third-party ad networks to collect data through the app, and we do not use children's information for behavioral advertising of any kind.

6. Sharing

We share children's information only with service providers who help us run the app (such as cloud hosting and crash reporting). These providers are contractually required to handle information in line with this notice and applicable law. We do not share children's information with other third parties except where required by law.

7. Parents' rights & choices

At any time, a parent can:

  • Review the information in their child's profile from within the app.
  • Edit or remove a child's profile.
  • Revoke consent for further collection by deleting the child's profile or the whole family account.
  • Request deletion of a child's information by emailing privacy@chorebear.com or visiting our account deletion page.

8. Retention & deletion

We keep a child's information only as long as the child's profile is active. When a profile or the family account is deleted, we delete or anonymize the child's personal information within 30 days, subject to backups that are purged on a rolling basis within 90 days.

9. Safe interactions

Chore Bear has no open messaging, no social feeds, and no way for strangers to contact your child. All communication is between the parent account and the child profiles within that family.

10. Security

We use the same industry-standard safeguards described in our main Privacy Policy to protect children's information.

11. Changes

If we make material changes to how we handle children's information, we will notify the parent account and, where required, obtain fresh parental consent.
